Thank you. It was a fun build. It's a virgin PM Md 90 (AIMR) kit I finally got around to putting together. Built on a Childers receiver and a Romanian manufactured 12" CHF/CL barrel. I changed out the handguards for a Russian refurb set I had laying around. Also added leather wrap to the brace to match the handguards and pistol grip wrap as well.HAWT.... Those are the spotwelds for the bolt rail..... Yours simply heat-marred the other side of the receiver wall less while welding yours than others.I recently got a parts-kit built Izmash AKM, but I have noticed something missing from the receiver that I have seen on just about every other parts built AK. I am unsure what they are called, but on every example I have seen, there are several circular 'dimples' (much less shallow than the magwell dimple). There are indications where they ought to be and faint outlines on mine, but they are certainly not as solid as I have seen on other examples.
What is the proper term for these 'dimples', what are they for or what do they indicate, and is the lack of such going to be an issue? The first three pictures are mine, and the fourth is an example. Much thanks in advance.
AH, that's what that is. Makes sense, much thanks. Those are the spotwelds for the bolt rail..... Yours simply heat-marred the other side of the receiver wall less while welding yours than others.
I lived through those times of the thumbhole stocks. Just seeing them now makes me laugh at how ridiculous ground off threads and bayonet lugs, and dumb stocks are. I sold my MAK90 10 years ago because the neutered parts drove me crazy.Another AK added to the collection; this MAK-90 does have a square back and I do plan to add on the proper Chinese furniture.

I'm still dealing with a similar ban in NJ. Arbitrary bans of features and names. But this will still be a fine AK once I get the proper furniture on it.I lived through those times of the thumbhole stocks. Just drive to guns shows in VA, and WV... Then, drive home. Problem solved. 'Tis a free country, and all...I'm still dealing with a similar ban in NJ. Arbitrary bans of features and names. But this will still be a fine AK once I get the proper furniture on it.
