Gun Talk Weird Russian flare gun/baton

Does anybody here know anything else about this thing other than what was translated from this German collecting book... It looks like you just slam. It shut to fire it as there is no trigger assembly. There is zero information or pictures of another one in my searchings... Any ideas? Thanks!

Given that a much more advanced OS(P)-26 existed in 1926 I'd doubt that this thingy is a standard issue equipment
Thank you for that information. But I'm assuming since it's a flare gun/ tear gas baton (according to the information in the picture above)... It was most likely used for prison service by the OGPU
