I'm no expert either. I think the Egyptian ones weren't bakelite though, weren't they polymer or something?

Other than color, the look very similar, but it’s hard to tell because they are so much darker. I hope you get your answer because now I am curious.

Those are romanian AIMR grips...

No the maadi is a deep dark blue in light and are a smoother finish
