I was fortunate to snag a cheap Mak-90 a couple years ago I converted into a spiker. Also, I had a Mak I paid $250 for like 15 years ago and discovered it had the Underfolder rear trunnion so converted that one as well. Both great projects:

Agreed, I went with Kengs because they are fairly common mak-90's but I would try and source an original for a Chinese type 56 conversion. Then you are looking at huge momey, plus I get a Keng's discount so a bonus.
