Mossberg 44 as in 1944 Vs, The Toz 08-01 .22 long rifles. Each rifle is bolt action, a very short throw. Ok so the Mossberg was primarily for WWIi and was also to help with the M-1 and is almost as heavy. A cool feature is the peep site on this Mossberg and the unique grain. At eight pounds it is a healthy .22lr. The magazine is also a nice feature which holds 7 rounds. This has the coveted, for collectors anyway US Property stamp on the barrel. The Russian Toz (Tula factory) is a single shot trainer that is lighter and an equally robust design at around six pounds. The Toz has cool markings and is stamped Made in the USSR. Both are cheap and fun to shoot. I did alright and did nit pay for either rifle. The condition on the Mossberg is excellent and it is hard to believe it is an 81 year old rifle. Both rifles qualified for a C&R FFL.
