Gun Talk VZ52 7.62x39mm Barrels

I'm just curious about these. I'm interested in a VZ52 because I love my SKS, but the ammo, 7.62x45mm, is super expensive, there's no brass available, it's hard to convert cases, etc. The Czechs had a variant of the rifle in 7.62x39mm, the VZ52/57, but they seem to go for like $1200+. There's some talk on forums from about 15 years ago about 7.62x39mm conversion barrels, I was wondering if anybody knew anything about these or where to get them. I would also be interested in how much one would cost to make.

Just look for a Vz52/57 and you will have something that holds it's value over time. It's going to cost as much to convert a Vz52 as it will to just buy a Vz52/57. They are excellent shooters, by the way. It's a heavy beast so recoil is non-existent. It's replacement is very nice, as well...Vz58.

I have seen videos of 7.62x39 chamber inserts for x45 barrels. If you could find one it would be far less than the cost of a new rifle. I just picked up 2 "middle eastern " bring backs and don't want to permanently alter them. I think the inserts will be the way to go.
