Gun Talk Vepr FM-AK47-11 folding trunnion rivets

Details

OK... I'm new here but have a decent presence on the marketplace forum. I recently bought a Vepr FM-AK47-11. I also bought the Molot folding stock and folding trunnion that is native to it's sibling.... The FM-AK47-21. However, some drilling is requires to convert it to the AK47-21. I know it's a thicker receiver... 1.5 vs 1 mm. Question, what rivets would work? I'm looking at the AKS-74 folding trunnion rivet set but not sure if the receiver thickness will factor into rivet length. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could you get the dimensions of the receiver and compare the dimensions to a standard AKM receiver? I should have a surplus NOS Polish AKM rivet set from AoA, if you're interested or think it would work with your rifle I can get some dimensions, and if it seems like it would work I could mail them to you for like $5. I also have standard AKM receiver dimensions I can get to you if you need them. I'm not an AK expert by any means, so I apologize if I'm way off

I'm getting 1.33 to 1.35" on the width from top to bottom. I can only assume that the existing fixed trunnion was jammed in there forcing the side walls out causing the slight deviation. The two flanges on the folding trunnion that the rivets needs to go thru are 0.105" (2.7mm) thick. So... With complicated math.. 1.5mm + 2.7mm = 4.2mm. That's the thickness of the material the rivet needs to clear. There will be 3 holes total. 4 short rivets for tow of the holes + the axis pin that goes straight across on the existing 3rd hole. I BELIEVE the axis pin is 4mm. I do not know. I'll have to assume it's the same as the AKM. Since I'm going in blind and not privy to vepr blueprints, then I'll make the rules on rivet sizes and copy AKMs. 😁

I'm willing to bet the rivets are the same as the RPK. The vepr I have is basically an RPK.

My guy used romanian (rpk spec? likely romy rpk rivets, idk) on one conversion and theyve held up fine feeding off a 75rd or 40rd mag.

rpk stamped rivets should work; identical dimensions or so ive read.
