So first and foremost this is my first official thread on the bloc. Thanks for having me here and for offering what seems to be a friendlier environment for the fans of these platforms.

The really big question is, are there anymore Romanian kits available anywhere??? Or is there anyway of knowing when we might see a fresh batch? I'm partial to the romy's for some inexplicable reason. And with yugos being halted (a close second for me) I'm hoping to find a decent kit someday soon.

A follow up question and a bit of a weird one if I'm totally honest, is it beyond the realm of possibility to build a 556 gun out of a Romanian kit if I replace the obvious parts (trunnion, bc, barrel, etc)? I've got some kind of wild hair that makes me want to get a true bfpu kit, but make it a fun affordable shooter. Or am I just pie in the sky dreaming over here? Bring the smoke, I know its kinda dumb and slightly blasphemous.

Welcome aboard. Yes there are Romanian kits still available. Arms of America and Maxx Arms among others. Also, it is possible to do a Romanian 5.56 but you are probably better off piecing a kit together over time. I have done it with Russian and an East German rifle in 5.56. They shoot soft and there will never be any ammo issues.
