So I had a Saiga full conversion AK74 done. Gunsmith shipped, tracking started, then after leaving Greensboro NC hasn’t scanned since. He didn’t take any extra insurance out.

Do I have any recourse? Guessing he should have some sort of liability insurance.

Also, what would you say the value would be? All replacement parts are original Izhmash, including folding stock.

Had both a black and plum bayonet also as he was going to repaint the metal on them.

That sucks so f'n bad, Sorry about your loss brother 🙁 idk about exact value but i wouldn't settle for less than 3k, seeing as izzy parts alone are stupid expensive now, prolly worth more overall including bayonets and price of rear trunnion work and so on

How long ago was it scanned at Greensboro? It’s taking shit FOREVER to leave the east coast for some reason

Fuck… man I remember seeing this post too about how it was in the works… I really really hope they find your rifle. I would be super destroyed if I lost something as sick as that. Keep us up to date for sure, I agree with poster above… don’t settle for anything less than 3000 hell, see how much the parts where, how much the work was and then shipping. Should get you to the 3200 all said and done mark.

That sucks brother sorry to hear that, you are definitely owed some money. Wouldn’t take anything lower than $3700 for the inconvenience of them losing your gun. My question is who would be held responsible, whoever it was shipped with or the Gunsmith. Non the less Hope it all works out for you man and if you celebrate, have a good Easter.

I wouldn’t lose hope
Iv had at least three packages with take waaaaay to long to show up or appear to move on tracking.
The last one finally showed up yesterday … a Romanian G Barrel that was shipped from California on March 15th.
I had a drop bag from nj to ga take three weeks.
On two occasions Iv seen tracking not change or update for two weeks .. usually saying weather delay.

It will have to turn out, it has to.. I would report it to the police and have them get on the USPS. That's fricken sucks man. And I don't understand why people don't insure those shipments for the full amount that's worth. Never have gun shipped without paying extra for full coverage. Damn.
If this is UPS or FedEx it will show up sometimes it doesn't get scanned.

I recently had a firearm related package lost by usps, apparently a “sub” was on my route and threw my package into a neighbors box. The post master admitted to the issue being on them and sadly, not a single thing was done to help fix the issue. Countless phone calls, emails, etc. USPS is DOG SHIT, they won’t help with anything. Good luck bro, give them fucking hell.

Lessons learned... Always ship with extra insurance. I do that with all my firearm shipments.

If not done already... Contact USPS. They will seize all operations until found as they are accountable regardless if insured or not because THEY lost track of it and it's an "assault" weapon. And gives them an even worse rap. Then.. Contact the police and bring them up to speed and make sure to give them the serial number along with make/model, description, etc. The police can't do much but it will be part of official record should the judicial system get involved. I.e....It covers your a**. The latter is what's important in this case.

Personally... I ship fedex with full insurance.

Haven’t even gotten it back yet, but the gunsmith just sent the picture. How does it look?
