Selling one of my prized possessions. This is a AK-100 izhmash Wood Folding stock that has been finished with the REAL Original Lacquer that the Russians used up until 1985
Here’s the backstory:
The lacquer the Russians used on their wood was a mixture of nitrocellulose and Abietic resin lacquer called VK-1 and now known as NTS-5119. Contrary to what everybody thinks, there has never been a AK finished with shellac in Russia. I have been intensely researching this finish with the help of Oleg, akmaadi, sunspot, and others on akfiles. As many of you know, Russians switched to the plum colored polymer furniture in 1985 and no lacquer or wood has been used since that point in time. Through endless research and finding contacts on the AK-Files I was able to get in touch with people who knew people that still had access to NTS-5119 in Russia. The correspondence with the people in Russia alone took around 2 years and lots of Google translate. I received three bare wood laminate folding stocks from Izhevsk, Russia a few years ago. I then sent them back to Russia to my point of contact. I spent approximately $500 in “service fees” and shipping *cough bribes cough* and had the three Russian laminate wood folding stocks painted with NTS-5119 as well as the original Izhmash preservative. These were then sent back to me in the US using Japan as a transit point. As much as I wanted them to send the lacquer itself to me, due to the lacquer containing nitrocellulose (hazardous shipping) the best option was to have them paint my wood with it and send it back. This would be impossible to do in 2024 due to the Russian government severely limiting access to nitrocellulose for the general public (they need it for military use due to the war) and nts-5119 is no longer being produced (trust me, I’ve contacted every single lacquer producer in most major Russian cities.) I am selling one of those folding stocks along with an original Izhmash laminate AK-74 handguard set. The color match is perfect. As much as I don’t want to sell this I really need the $ right now. The folding mechanism is a 5.5mm Russian. I probably could sell it for much more on gunbroker but due to circumstances I need cash now. However, if I am able to come up with the $ a different way I will be taking this post down so act now! Asking $450 for the stock set. Add $10 for priority shipping.
One of the pictures I have uploaded is the wood folding stock next to an original izhmash akm stock. As you can tell, the lacquer is exactly the same. There hasn’t been much sun where I live but I will be posting pictures of the wood outside when the sun is back.
Tracking will be sent within 24 hours. All packages are dropped off to USPS drop box on Friday’s.
