I am offering some wood shop refinishing services for those who may want wood redone and don’t have the skill or time to do it. Wall of text incoming, sorry!
I can’t do it all but I can do several things pretty good in my semi professional shop. Turnaround time usually around 2 weeks from once I get the wood. *Please use USPS to send to me* If you need wood sourced I can try to help best I can. If you want me to color match, you’ll have to send pictures in various lighting conditions upon request.
As there are a few shades of Serbian red, it is best if I get a piece of your furniture sent in for an ideal match. I do however have reference pieces of their darker type and lighter type so I can aim for one of those based on your direction, say if you want a dong or shark fin to match.
Serb red variants:
I am able to source custom cut birch dongs, reverse dongs, and sharkfins. For Yugo people, these are not designed or cut out for a ferrule, but naturally may require some sanding/fitting/gentle plastic mallet-ing to get it to fit.
Several custom laminate options available- sharkfin, standard / forward facing Dong or reverse/ backward facing dong, or thumbhole (most pricey) available. Pm for a quote if you have a project idea in mind.
Yugo people- most custom stuff is not cut for a ferrule.. fear not, just use it without one. There is no need to carve out a ferrule inlet.

Check out these pictures or my Instagram (teh_haps85) for things I’ve done in the past- dark red, plum, light brown, darker brown, or pine tar brown for a Balkan war-esque look, boiled linseed or tung, izhmash orange, army green, burned stripes if you want. All of these are options. Also have have blue dye as well so I can do shades of blue. Can do enhancement on Zastavas “tiger maple” but mileage may vary on that, as their “heat treatment” they do to the wood plus the thin layer of poly makes things tricky.
Generally 70 shipped and insured for a basic handguard strip, clean, and refinish, around $130 plus ship for basic (pine tar, tung, shellac) full set (or more) depending on complexity, surface area, materials needed, and pain in the ass factor. Again mileage may vary of course but I can usually get real close to what you want (with the looks I can do). Depends on the base color of your wood and how well it strips down. Quote will depend on your exact needs.
Final finish can be polyurethane, boiled linseed oil, or tung oil… poly *can* melt but it offers outstanding physical dent protection… while tung and BLO finishes are harder to melt out, but those offer less in terms of dent protection (compared to poly).
