Gun Talk My current AK armament

Details

Howdy everyone!

I figured I'd add my babies to the forum and just speak on what I plan to do for them and any future AKs I want. I'm pretty new to AKs still imo, joined here back in August, but I've learned a lot since then from looking around on here. Glad to be here and see the market is still running strong despite the transition from Reddit. Now let's get to the (work-in-progress) beauties!

This is a WASR 10/63 I rescued a while back, the guy I got it from bought it for $600 sometime around the early 2000s and sold it to me for the same rate with all the goodies included. They had it labeled as a "Romanian AK-47" so I checked it out in person and after a little bit of reading on AKs, I realized I found something decent. It shot nicely and had little wear from what I noticed, guy kept it as a safe queen and never really took it out to shoot. Sights aren't canted thankfully and I've really got to get around to changing out the Tapco G2 trigger from what I was advised from a fellow WASR owner. I sourced the lever-style side-folder, Romy drum and Bake grip from here on the market (shout-out to Duke, OnlyHush, and Stone) and she's looking mighty fine now!

The KUSA KP-9! My friend sold me this beaut for a flat 700 since he didn't really have much use for it and didn't plan on going all the way for Zenitco furniture. He told me he got it in the mystery box bundle from KUSA along with the dot sight pictured. (I sold off the sight after looking around at some more nice optics) I took it off his hands and looked around for a brace so I could have something to shoulder with for the time being that isn't too expensive and then a month after, braces became illegal lmao. Anyways, she shoots like a dream and I haven't had any issues as of recent. (fingers crossed, I do not need any parts shitting the bed) My planned Zenitco pieces for this beauty are;

- PT-3 Stock w/ 5.5 adapter
- RP-2 Charging Handle
- RK-3 Pistol Grip
- B-19N Upper
- B-21L Lower
- RK-0L Foregrip

Fingers crossed that I actually land these parts. Maybe one day! I will update these as time goes on.

I'll edit this later to include the rifles I plan to own at some point. Thanks for reading!

Good pair, your bases are for the most part covered.

My WASR changed a lot since I picked it up:

This is what it looked like when I got it, the wood is Russian surplus stained a one-of-a-kind color as a trophy for winning a particular competition. I never really was happy with it because I didn't win that competition and so it was like I was displaying somebody else's trophy :

Before long I'd added a Saiga takeoff dust cover, VLTOR tube adapter, FAB Defense GL-CORE stock, Tangodown grip, WBP flash hider, Krebs safety, knockoff Zenit handguards with an Olight Odin mini and pressure pad, and an extended charging handle made by an old friend. In my experience the handle extensions always pop free and fly off when shooting so I stuffed this one with steelstik putty and it's held up well.

Yes, I painted the dust cover and butt myself. Flash hider also. I did the receiver too for a short time but stripped it after a few days. Just wasn't happy with it.

I gotta say, I personally think it looks good. Was it a rattle can job?

Yes, base coat of flat tan, gave it a few days to dry and then a dollar tree sponge daubed on with the darker brown sprayed on a sheet of cardboard as a palette. Worked well enough but I'm actually considering going back to solid colors. We'll see.
